Kate Moss Matte Rimmel Lipstick Review
This post is going to be a review on the Kate Moss Matte Rimmel Lipsticks.
Obviously I won’t be reviewing the entire range, of shades, but in having two it gives me a good idea of how the products rate overall, and in short, I like them!
I like Rimmel lipsticks in general, so was quite interested in these matte lipsticks when I first saw them.
It always worried me with matte looking lipsticks that they would look/feel very dry, and in a way it is true and you do have to be careful, but what I liked about these is that they didn’t look dry, and they only started to feel dry after a while and not straight away.
I decided to go for two very different shades, a pale baby pink shade and a deeper rich berry shade.
(The pink one on the left is shade 101 and the berry colour on the right is shade 107.)
Firstly I will say, I have dark hair, pale skin, and blue/green eyes, and the pale pink shade really does not suit me! It’s good under a lipgloss, but on it’s own it’s not a pretty sight at all.
On the other hand the deeper/berry shade is now one of my favourite lipsticks… funny how things turn out!
Consistency wise I don’t find much difference between the two shades, what I do find different though is the length of time they last on the lips. The berry shade lasts a lot longer and hardly needed touched up for most the day, where as the pale pink one was needing touched up fairly often. This could be because the berry one seems to act as a stain as well as a lipstick, so even when the softer top layer of lipstick wears off, you still get a beautiful vibrant colour coming through underneath making it look as if you have recently reapplied your lippie.
This is also true for after eating/drinking! Very impressed.
The pale pink one on the other hand, under a darker pink/purple toned lipgloss is really pretty, but only lasts as long as any other standard lipstick, there is no staining to the lips from this colour. In a way I am glad though, as it may make some people look slightly unwell/vampire-esque with pale pink matte looking stained lips!
They do both start to feel a little dry after a shortish while, but nothing too bad. Applying a balm/gloss over the top helps, as does reapplying the lipstick itself.
The matte look to the lipsticks is a lovely change, and looks really beautiful in the berry shade, as it gives a bold lip, but without being as over the top as a high shine lip colour.
These lipsticks retail at £5.49 each, so very reasonably priced for the quality, and I can definitely see myself buying the berry shade again once it’s finished.
Have you ever tried these lipsticks? What shades do you have and what do you think of them?
Leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂
