The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

215 pages

Rating 3/5 stars

“Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?

Today should be one of the worst days of Hadley’s life…

Her father is getting married in London to a woman she’s never even met, and she’s just missed her flight.

Hadley has never believed in destiny or fate before…

But, stuck at the airport in New York, today is also the day she meets Oliver. He’s British. He’s cute. And he’s on her new flight.

Set over twenty-four hours, Hadley and Oliver’s story will make you believe that true love finds you when you’re least expecting it.”

I had heard a lot of good things about this book so I was so excited to read it!

It is a lovely little story but I must say I am slightly disappointed… not so much with the ending, but more that I simply didn’t adore it as much as i was hoping to, and find it not a book that will stick with me.

The story itself is adorable, and Oliver seems like such a nice guy! Plus there was all the drama with Hadley and her family, which I wasn’t expecting!

I think maybe if this book was longer and had more depth and detail in it, that I maybe would have loved it more! But unfortunately it wasn’t and so I didn’t.

I don’t feel that I could relate much to the characters, which to me is what I would want in this sort of story! The characters themselves weren’t all bad though.

If you are looking for a light hearted quick summer read then give this book a go! A lot of people rave about this book, and I bought it due to the hype it has gotten on blogs and youtube!

For me it was a bit disappointing and not as good as I had hoped for, but I liked it enough that I will hang onto it, and may give it another go in the future! :)

Book Haul – 19/01/13

Posted January 19, 2013 By Kammitted

Hey everyone! I got some books I had been wanting for a long time, so decided to do another small book haul as these are more than likely ones I will be doing reviews on!

I have heard such good things about all of these books so I am really excited about reading them! I have seen a lot of reviews about all of them apart from Hidden, as I didn’t need reviews as it is the 10th one in the House of Night series which I adore, so I automatically bought that as soon as it came out!!

Entwined by Heather Dixon (had to get the hardback of this as it is just so pretty!)

Hidden by P.C. and Kristin Cast

Matched by Allie Condie

The Selection by Kiera Cass

Cinder by Marissa Meyer

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer Smith

Book Review: The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

328 Pages

Rating: 1/5 stars

“My name was Salmon, like the fish; first name, Susie. I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973. My murderer was a man from our own neighborhood. My mother liked his border flowers, and my father talked to him once about fertilizer.

This is Susie Salmon, speaking to us from heaven. It looks like her school playground, with the good kind of swing sets. There are counsellors to help newcomers to adjust, and friends to room with. Everything she wants appears as soon as she thinks of it – except the thing she wants most: to be back with the people she loved on Earth.

From heaven, Susie watches. She sees her happy suburban family implode after her death, as each member tries to come to terms with the terrible loss. Over the years, her friends and siblings grow up, fall in love, do all the things she never had the chance to do herself. But life is not quite finished with Susie yet.”

This is my first book review on this blog, and I really wanted it to be a positive one, but the whole point of reviews is to be totally honest and as this was the book I have just finished, I thought I may as well just review it.

I always try and finish books, even if I am not enjoying them, as sometimes the ending is amazing and redeems the book…. that didn’t happen here for me. I will admit I didn’t see the last slight twist coming, but it wasn’t spectacular enough for me to give the book more than just one star unfortunately.

I always try and find something positive, even in things I don’t like… so the positive parts of this book for me was that some of the characters were lovely, and there was the odd few pages in the middle which were a bit more gripping than the rest!

But I really didn’t enjoy this book if I am honest, which is a shame as so many of the reviews and people I have asked about it, have said how great it is! I found that only one or two of the characters were even remotely interesting, and the writing style was very confusing in parts! All just seemed a bit jumbled together.

For me I love it when you have to keep reading and don’t want to put the book down, where as this one was the opposite and I was just trying to get it finished in hope something good happened at the end and was then disappointed when nothing really did.

I do know a lot of people do love this book though, and all this review means is that it wasn’t for me, you may love it! :)

I was going to give it two stars as I felt bad only giving it one (and it doesn’t happen often), but I was using the rating system on Goodreads as a guideline where 1 star was “I didn’t like it” and 2 stars was that “it was okay”, and for me personally, I didn’t like it, hence it only getting one poor lonely star!

Hope this helps! x

Hey guys, this is my first book haul on my blog!

I ordered these online a week or so ago from The Works and they arrived today so I decided to post a picture of the ones I got.

I will do reviews on most/all of these books once I read them, some may be a quick review, others will be more in depth!

Normally if I am buying books out of a series I only buy the first one, as that way if I don’t like it, I haven’t wasted money on the others, but the reason I got 3 of the one series this time is that they were on a 3 for £5 deal, so seemed silly not too!

If anyone has read any of these books, let me know what you thought!
