A short guide: Gift ideas – TheWinterProject
This post is aimed at Christmas gifts, but of course is not exclusive to just this time of the year and can be used throughout the rest of the year for Birthdays or any other gift giving times!
Instead of picking out exact things I have decided to do a more general one, as that way it can be useful for people down the line!
I will start off with the girlie ones.
One of my favourite things to buy girls is perfume. It is such a luxurious gift, and less and less people seem to be buying their own perfume these days. So many people say they are waiting for a Birthday/Christmas to get a new one.
Part of the reason perfume is such a good gift is that you can get one in pretty much any price range you want. It can be tricky buying one for someone else, but if you know what ones they like already, if you go into the store and ask one of the staff at the perfume counter they should be able to direct you to a suitable one within your price range.
Plus who doesn’t like receiving perfume?!
Similar to perfume in the fact they smell amazing, I am also a fan of gifting scented candles, especially Yankee candles.
There are so many gorgeous wintery/Christmassy scented candles out at this time of the year, there are literally scents to suit anyone and everyone.
Candles are amazing to burn this time of year also, as they can make the room feel so cosy and special, whilst also giving off a beautiful scent. They can be fairly inexpensive if you go for the smaller ones too – say for example if you wanted to get some smaller ones to give a few different scents and make it up into a little gift yourself.
My last favourite for girls is makeup/skin/bodycare sets – either pre-made up, where you buy the set in one go, or you buy all the bits yourself and you make up your own set (similar to the candle idea I mentioned above).
I like to get a gift bag, and get lots of little bits, for example shower gel, body cream, hand cream, nail polish, mascara, etc etc – and this way you can tailor it to exactly the kind of products/scents/colours that particular person would use.
Now onto the boys!
I have big issues trying to work out what to buy boys a lot of the time – so may not be as helpful here, but I will list three of the things I sway towards quite a lot of the time!
Firstly we have fragrances for men. Similar to the perfume for women, men like to smell nice too!
Buying a new fragrance for men is not an easy task, but if you get an idea of what they usually like, if you tell the assistant in the shop this they should be able to guide you to a few you may think he would like.
Gadgets are also another good idea. I am a big fan of finding the slightly more obscure gadgets, as it would be extremely rare for them to have bough one themselves already – plus gadgets always go down well with boys.
The last thing I do tend to give to boys at Christmas time a lot is fun tshirts! They can be fairly inexpensive and easy to find, ranging in design/colour so much that you can find one to suit just about anybody. Plus they are practical.
So that’s it for my short gift guide for Christmas! This isn’t the sort of post I would have done if I wasn’t part of this specific project, but I am glad I did as it was good fun!
What did you pick as your top gifts? Leave me your links in the comments below so I can have a read!

December 3, 2013 at 10:16 pmExcellent post! It’s so true that there is really a scent for anyone out there this holiday season! Right now I’m on a lavender kick, but I love all of the holiday-scented candles out there, too! You should do a post with specific items that you love; I bet your readers would enjoy it! 🙂
