Today I am happy to bring you all another book review 🙂 this one is on a book called The Beauty Game by Michaela Day.

When I first read the back of this book I was completely drawn in, as it’s all about the beauty industry and the fights and lies of business.

I adore the main character in this book, Zoe! She is independent, confident, and really knows what she wants, but without being cocky, irritating or just down right annoying.

The book itself was very well written, and there is so many characters and so much detail of the characters and their lives that you very easily get completely drawn into their busy, stressful, glamourous but hectic lives to live the ups and downs with them!

The start of this book I found a little hard to get into if I am being honest, and at times there was so many characters and so much going on that I got a little overwhelmed/lost in it all, but after looking over it again and carrying on it all starts to make sense and it’s at that point it became a story I didn’t want to put down.

I think one of the most interesting parts of this book (for me) is one of the other main characters in the book. Bellini. From reading it she sounds like she would grate on you, irritate you, frustrate you, annoy you etc etc, and her actions do portray this… yet she was another of my favourite characters.

This was the same with a few of the more stuck-up business type characters. I think it was because they were made out to seem like a real people (as were all of the characters), and so much care/thought/effort was put into these people to make them and their scenarios seem real which made for a really enjoyable read and made even the rude characters really interesting.

There is drama, death, ups, downs, affairs, and generally just high-up expensive people. The book has a hectic/busy/information packed feel to it but I really liked that that is exactly how the industry would feel.

Over all I really enjoyed this book and it only lost a star due to the fact it does have quite a slow start and can be difficult to get into if you don’t keep up with everything that is going on right from the start!

If you are looking for a light, happy-go-lucky love story then this isn’t for you… but if you are interested in the beauty industry, and want a fast paced book with a realistic feel to it and really interesting characters then I definitely suggest giving this a go!
