So today I have a book review for you all!

I know it’s been far too long since my last book review, I have been so busy that I haven’t read much at all since my last review, but this book has made me want to make time to read again as I really do love it!

This book is called Cinder and it was written by Marissa Meyer and it is the first one in The Lunar Chronicles series.

This might sound slightly bizarre, but this has been a really tricky book to review!

When I picked it out to read, I forgot that it was the first in a series and kept thinking there were parts that seemed a little unnecessary to the actual story, went into too much detail on (what felt like) random topics, and that the ending wasn’t very satisfying, and at that point I thought I did like it but wasn’t blown away…. but then I realised it was the first book in the series and realised there was probably a very good reason we got so much information and no “proper” ending to this book, which will be a perfect set up for the next one (which I have ordered!), and thinking back to it, as the first book in a series it’s amazing!

It’s loosely based on the Cinderella story, but keeps far enough away from it to keep it interesting and not become predictable.

All the characters in Cinder are really interesting and the only ones that annoyed me a little were the ones I was supposed to be annoyed at! (Stepmother and one of the step-sisters.)

At times, especially at the start of the book, it was a little confusing with all the new characters coming in and all the new terms from their world, but you soon get to grips with it and get to know the characters and it’s not long before you can start to pick out favourites.

If you like more sci-fi/fantasy type distopian books, then I am sure you will love this! It’s really well written, and just keep in mind it’s not a stand alone book, and quite a bit of it will be setting up for future books!

I actually have the urge to read it again already and I only finished it last night… but I better not as I have so many other books to read!

I have a feeling that the next time I read this book I will pick up on lots of little details I probably missed the first time around! Can’t wait to read it again already!

Next book review will be up in a couple of weeks, and then you will most likely see a review for the next book in this series, Scarlet.

Have you read this book? Do you like the sound of it? Let me know!

Nice review of Cinder. We like the diversity of your Blog. If you’re into great stories you should check out The Zorki Chronicles by Bill Lowenburg. @Zorki10

This wouldn’t usually be something I would pick up, but I’m trying to look a bit wider so may have a go!
