Macadamia Deep Repair Masque Review

This review will be on the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque, which I will say right now, I absolutely adore.

(Sorry the pot is a little scabby, it’s been living in the shower for months!)

Macadamia 1

The claims on the front of the pot say “Revitalising hair reconstructor for dry, damaged hair” – now I will be honest here, my hair isn’t overly dry or overly damaged, apart from occasional hair dye or slight heat damage/split ends, but I always get intense conditioners and moisturisers, as I like my hair to be as soft and moisturised as it can be and to be honest I have totally noticed a difference with this conditioning treatment!

Since using it on a regular basis my hair never seems to get tangled at all, and is always so soft, with less noticeable split ends, and it’s a lot smoother with less flyaways and sticky out baby hairs!

It says on the pot not to use more than twice a week, and I can see why, as it is a very rich and intense masque! But what I have found is that you CAN use it every time you wash your hair, as long as you don’t leave it on for the recommended length of time which is 5-10 mins, if you are just using it as you would any other wash out conditioner, I find it perfectly okay to use every time :)

One thing I will add in though, is make sure you REALLY rinse it out, it will need 2-3 times the length of rinse time as opposed to every day conditioners, and if you don’t rinse it all out you will feel some build up when you get out of the shower, which I find can be bad enough that I have to get back into the shower to re-rinse….. but as long as you rinse for that extra couple of minutes, you will be fine!

Before this deep conditioner I used one of the Tresemme ones, which I also enjoyed using and found it good for my hair also – plus it was only around £5, but in all honesty, the price of this conditioner in relation to the results you get from this product…. so worth it.

The pot I have I have had for at least 6-8 months, using it between 1-4 times a week, and I am literally only about half way down! I do have fine hair, but my hair is long! Lasts such a long time as you only need the tiniest amount – plus I have to say, the smell is amazing!

For this 250ml pot it retails at £29.95 on the Macadamia website, but I got mine for about £20 from either Amazon or FeelUnique, so shop around! 250ml doesn’t sound like a massive amount, but it actually gives you a lot of product for the tiny amount you need each time.

Macadamia 2

This masque is so intense that you can also use it as a longer deep treatment for the hair, either during the day or overnight! Pop the product all over the hair (or just the ends if you have oily hair), and then put a shower cap over it and let it do it’s thing, then when you wash it off after the length of time you left it for, you will have THE softest hair, which will also be smelling amazing, and that scent will stay in your hair all day!

I am the kind of person that no matter how much I love a product, when I finish something, I always want to try something different next time! But I can honestly say I will definitely be buying another one of these once I have finished this one! Even if I pick up other brands also, I will have one of these knowing I can go back to it if I need to!

Has anyone else got/tried this masque? Leave me a comment letting me know your thoughts on it!

Biotherm haul!

I am back and from now on will be posting on a regular basis! But I thought I would come back with a Biotherm haul!

I adore Biotherm, so far I have not used anything from their range and NOT totally adored it, and that’s the main reason I feel happy enough about buying them (they aren’t the cheapest range out there).

If there is anything you feel you would like to try, I always find the experts at the Biotherm counters are always more than happy to give you a couple of samples away to try! That’s how I got introduced to the brand :)

So onto the haul… I picked up three things, one of which was an unexpected surprise, as I went to get the body lotion, and it just so happened they had body lotion sets in, and in the set was a free exfoliator! Bonus!

Biotherm haul

At the back on the left is the set, including the 400ml “Anti-drying Body Milk, with citrus extracts” – then I also received 75ml of “Gentle Exfoliating Milk”;

On the right we have the brand new out Celluli Eraser which says “cellulite appearance reducer care with Coralline algae extract + pure caffeine”;

Then at the front is my Aquasource Skin Perfection “24 hour moisturiser high-definition perfecting care with Aqualiss complex”, and this is for all skin types!

I am excited about trying these, as I have never tried any of these three before other than a sample or two of each!

RRPs for the three products:

Body Lotion – £29.50

Celluli Eraser – £32.00

Aquasource Skin Perfection – £28.00

(All prices taken directly from the Biotherm website).

Reviews to come on all three (well including the exfoliator I suppose that’s four) products!

Review: Redken Smooth Lock Shampoo

IMG_1086

I first came across this shampoo from a sample in a magazine, and I have to admit I loved it from the first time I used it! But I thought it would be more fitting to only do a proper review after having using it for a good few weeks to get the best idea of how it works over time.

My hair is long and naturally pretty straight, it isn’t overly dry or even really frizzy! But I love the moisturising anti-frizz hair products as they keep my hair as moisturised, soft and shiny as possible, and I must say, this shampoo does exactly that :)

It isn’t the cheapest of shampoos, averaging out at just over £10 a bottle (300ml), but it lasts a really long time (even with long hair), and is totally worth it!

It isn’t the deepest cleaning shampoo, so if you have really oily hair then it may not be the best shampoo for you, but I would say that for most hair types it would be as good as I have found it to be!

It has a lovely clean scent to it, nothing too over-powering which is nice if you layer scents with fragrance or body lotions, as you don’t have to worry about trying to only use complimenting scents!

Bottom line… would I recommend this? Yes! Without a doubt I really would! :)

Nail Polish Haul – Sally Hansen and Essie

The other day I went into Boots purposefully to spend my Boots points and get some Sally Hansen and Essie nail polish, and the reason I was able to get so many, was that they were also on a 3 for 2! I had been saving my points up for these for ages, and was so excited to be able to pick up so many different colours!

The Sally Hansen ones RRP are £6.99 each and the Essie ones RRP are £7.99 each.

Sally Hansen ones I picked up, from left to right:

Wine Not, Right Said Red, Commander in Chic, Fruitti Petutie, I Pink I Can, Shell We Dance

Image

The Essie ones I picked up, from left to right:

Mademoiselle, Muchi Muchi, Lovie Dovie, Tart Deco, Peach Daiquiri, Turquoise and Caicos, Mezmerised

Image

Most of these are pretty true to colour from the picture, apart from the Essie Peach Daiquiri which is more of a Coral colour, where is looks really Red in the picture! (That’s my own fault for taking the pictures when there wasn’t much daylight left).

I love both these brands of nail polish (in case you hadn’t already guessed), as most of them go on like a dream, and they stay on a really long time too – plus – especially with the Essie – there is such a large range of colours to choose from to suit nearly every occasion you could think of!

Beauty Box Lip Balm Comparisson

Hey everyone!

So today I decided to do a review on some of the lip balms I have received from different beauty boxes over the last few months.

The 4 I will be reviewing are:

Image

Balmi SPF 15 Lip Balm

RRP Price: £4.99

Would I purchase this myself?: Yes

From looking at it it is obvious to see that it has been made with the US lipbalm EOS in mind, and as I have had an EOS lipbalm I will also compare the two.

I have the Balmi in both Raspberry and Blackcurrant and both scents are very true to their name. They smell really quite strong whilst in the packaging, but the scent is lovely and subtle when you put it on your lips.

It has a lovely smooth texture, is really hydrating, and isn’t greasy, gritty or sticky on the lips.

The packaging is adorable, and comes with a little hook attached so you can attach it onto your keys/phone or anything else you fancy! The “egg” itself has a lovely soft matte texture to it as well, and the lid is super easy to get off, but clicks on securely to make sure the lid doesn’t come off in your bag.

Compared to the EOS, I would say that they are both very similar! The Balmi has a lighter/smoother texture, and the packaging is smaller (more convenient?), but they both last a really long time and price wise they are similar also.

So Susan Lip Cushion

RRP Price: £6

Would I purchase this myself?: Yes

This is a lovely little tinted lip balm!

First impressions of it…. well it is a very bright glittery looking pink, and smells of strawberries – so I wasn’t sure if it was more of a lipgloss in a pot than an actual lip balm! But once applied to the lips there is virtually no colour, only a hint of shimmer and only a very subtle scent (similar to the Balmi).

One thing I don’t really like about it is that it’s a pot so you have to have a brush with you, or put your fingers in and then you will need to wipe your hands which isn’t always the most convenient when on the go, plus the packaging feels a bit cheap and plastic-y.

Neither are enough to put me off it though as it is a lovely little product.

Figs & Rouge 100% Organic Sweet Geranium Lip, Face and Body Balm

RRP Price: £3.50

Would I purchase this myself? No

The packaging on this lip/body balm is really cute, like a duck egg blue background with flowers up the sides, so I had high hopes for it, plus it’s a good price.

Personally though….. it’s not for me.

The smell is nothing more than “okay”, but the product itself (as a lip balm) I don’t like. It is really thick and gooey, but if you put more than the tiniest amount on (which is tricky considering how thick it is), then it feels really sticky and gritty (due to the heavy texture of the product).

It’s saving grace for me is the fact it can be used as a body balm, as for very small areas of dry skin (elbows, knees etc…) it actually does a pretty good job! The thickness of the product helps and it goes on really smooth! As it is only the size of a lipbalm it would run out really fast though, hence me saying I would not repurchase it. Shame, as it looks so cute.

Balance Me Rose Otto Intensive Lip Salve

RRP Price: £12

Would I purchase this myself? No (Yes if it was cheaper).

This lipbalm is in a handy tube form, so no mess.

It’s a good lipbalm, smells good (very rosey though), feels nice and smooth (careful not to put on too much due to it being a squeeze tube), the reason I wouldn’t but it again is that it’s quite expensive for a “good” lipbalm.

It has a built in lip plumper – though a mild one, you can’t feel it tingling like you can with lipglosses – and also smoothes and hydrates, and it does do those things.

I do like it, and it is very hydrating, but there is nothing overly special about it that would want me to spend £12 on it, it doesn’t even have an SPF.

It is one I reach for quite often though, due to the handy no mess tube.

That’s my summary of those 4 particular lip balms! (I suppose 5 if you count the mini one of the EOS).

Hope you found this helpful! If you have any experiences/thoughts on these products then leave me a comment! :)
